Don
McCoy attended Riverside City Collect in 1963-64 and worked part time at KACE,
KCKC and KDUO. In 1963, KFXM morning DJ
Dave Franzen hired Don to play Sunday night tapes of pre-recorded shows.
When Al
Anthony came to KFXM, he hired Don as part-time and weekend jock. After his graduation from USC in 1966, Al
hired Don for the coveted 10am to 3pm slot.
“In late 1970, I left the
air-shift and interviewed with Bob Bunnell who hired me to sell air time for
KFXM and KDUO. Later, in 1970, I accepted a job as General Sales Manager at
K/men. In April of 1972, the General Manager of K/men, Fred Lindholm and I
purchased our first radio stations, WGNE-AM & FM in Panama City, Florida.
“Since then, I have been
the licensee of 42 radio stations and I'm currently the Chairman and CEO of
Magic Broadcasting Company.”
