Bio of Jhani Kaye

Jhani Kaye Today

KFXM was the big launching pad for one of today's most valuable program directors.  After taking adult contemporary KOST-FM to the top of the Los Angeles ratings, he is currently showing his prolific talents by doing the exact same thing on another legendary Los Angeles FM frequency.  Here are Jhani's words:

"Play Misty for Me" -- you never knew what request you would get on the Midnight to 6am -- and the 6pm to Midnight shift in radio.  I started at the fabulous power house, KFXM, in 1969.  Prior to that I was at KHSJ in Hemet, CA, and another Tullis & Hearne station, KAFY in Bakersfield, CA.

"Right after KFXM, I went to the 'Big City' where my first job was KROQ-FM in LA.  From there I worked for KUTE-FM, KKDJ-FM (now KIIS-FM) then to El Paso, TX, and KINT.  Eventually I was back in Los Angeles at KFI-AM and later, KOST-FM as Program Director.  Today I am PD of the nation’s first oldies station, KRTH (K-Earth-101) in Los Angeles.  <http://www.kearth101.com/>

"I was born on June 18th in East Los Angeles, and grew up in Hemet, CA.

"To prepare me for my wild ride in radio, in 1967 I attended the William B. Ogden Radio Operations School, Huntington Beach, California and went on to UCLA in 1971.

"My hobbies are television production and building “G” Scale train layouts.

"My favorite song of all time is You get What you Give" by the New Radicals and my favorite artist is Todd Rundgren."
