After KFXM: Craig Powers was the Consulting PD for KKBZ (Ventura) and I went there as the Music Director and his assistant. I also did 3pm - 7pm Afternoon Drive. I also was working at 93 KHJ (L.A.) weekends (Car Radio- Walto Sabo/Rick Scary), AM Stereo 1580 KDAY (L..A.) Midnight - 5:30 am Overnights Full time. For a brief while I worked at all three of these stations at once (In those days you could do that as all stations were independently owned). I also worked at KIST (Santa Barbara), KUHL (Santa Maria), KNJO (Thousand Oaks), and KMGG (L.A.) to name a few.Other Stations after KFXM: KKBZ, KMGG, KHJ, KDAY, KMYX, Mighty 690, KUHL, KIST, XHRM, KWNK, KJLH, KCMG Mega 92.3 'Jamin Oldies' (L.A./1999-2001/ Mike Marino PD). |

Jesse's KFXM Stories
I would tell you all the stories about the times the mic was accidental left open and what went over the air was not meant for audiences to hear. I would tell you about all the times spent in certain Holiday Inn rooms discussing the finer points of the human anatomy with the opposite sex. I would tell you about all the radio parties that took place when more that one girl would show up thinking that she was the only girl friend of the DJ or DJs at the different events,or a unknown husband or boy friend would pop in unannounced. I would tell you how the station always seemed to push past and over the limits of the approved FCC power for KFXM. I would tell you about money that was made conducting radio for the station and on the side (always legal of course). I would tell you about how other radio station events sometimes seemed to get sabotaged. I would tell you about these things and many more if I knew about any of these things during my time at the big 59! Maybe it's just more KFXM lore and myth...hmhmhmhmhmhhmhmhm! I'll leave that up to your speculation. I will say this.." 59 KFXM was one of the wildest, most exciting, fun, and professional radio experience in my 31 year entertainment career, Thank you Craig Powers for hiring me 'Jesse T'".
